Bryan Williams is the current Polemarch of the New Rochelle White Plains Alumni Chapter. A life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, he is a 1976 initiate of the Alpha Theta Chapter at Tennessee State University, and served for many years as a member of the New York Alumni Chapter where he helped to found and served as chairman Fraternity’s New York Alumni Scholarship Foundation.
Professionally, Mr. Williams is a named partner in the Manhattan law firm of Pettus & Williams, PLLC, where he specializes in commercial and real estate litigation. A 1981 cum laude graduate of the Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C., and a 1978 graduate of Tennessee State University, Mr. Williams began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. He practiced commercial litigation at the Wall Street law firms of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom and Deforest & Duer.
Mr. Williams is also a member of the five person New York State Board of Law Examiners, the body responsible for the writing, grading, and administration of the New York bar examination. The Board is also responsible for establishing policy for the bar exam. The New York Court of Appeals appointed Mr. Williams to the Board in 1996. In addition, Mr. Williams is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Conference of Bar Examiners, the national organization of bar examiners composed of bar examiners from states throughout the country. He is also chairman of the National Conference of Bar Examiners’ Multi State Performance Test Policy Committee and a member of the Multi-State Bar Examination Policy Committee.
Mr. Williams is also involved in a number of community and religious organizations, serving as a member of the Board of Deacons of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, and the Board of Directors of the Lakeland Education Foundation in Westchester County.
Mr. Williams lives in Cortlandt Manor, New York with his wife Robin and their children Bryan Jr., Tahari, and Bryce.
